ABOUT LAOI

You love the lakes area. We have an abundance of open spaces, lakes, fishing, hunting, and wildlife. But we all know those resources can dwindle if we are not thoughtful about how we collectively use them.

Whether or not you are a landowner, you may be thinking: how can I ensure future generations can enjoy this area? What will this area look like for my kids, grandkids, and beyond?

We get it.

We founded Lakes Area Outdoor Initiative (LAOI) so future generations can enjoy our outdoor resources.

There are no other local, 501c3 nonprofits focused on conservation able to accept and manage land donations while offering donors tax benefits for their donation. Other larger state or national nonprofits that do accept land donations for conservation are not managing it locally and funneling cash donations out of our area. We understand how hard it can be to want to support local conservation efforts and land accessibility programs in the lakes area of Minnesota but not know how.

You deserve to confidently donate to a local conservation nonprofit that keeps the resources and decision-making in our area.

LAOI is a registered 501c3 helping local residents build a legacy of conservation and encouraging the participation in outdoor education, recreation, and conservation among the youth, veterans, and greater community in and around the lakes area of west-central Minnesota. Our capable team has experience securing large land and financial donations for conservation use.

While our leadership team is primarily from Perham, MN, we serve the following communities in the lakes area: Perham, Dent, Frazee, Richville, Vergas, Ottertail, New York Mills, and Wadena.

By partnering with local outdoor sports clubs and nature groups, we are able to further their impact by accepting and managing land donations and providing opportunities for conservation. By drawing on our network of partner organizations, we are uniquely positioned to see that land is utilized according to a donor’s wishes–whether it be for youth education, disabled vereran hunts, or other requests.

You want to leave our land better for the next generation. We do, too. Through our work, we can improve wildlife habitats, increase land conservation, and provide more opportunities for people now and in the future to enjoy our resources.

Donate to LAOI today so you can stop wondering how to support conservation in the lakes area and start making an impact locally.

Together, let’s leave a legacy.
